Report content

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Stella Memoria hosts what families and their friends write. Almost all of it is a person remembering someone they loved. Occasionally something is published that should not be — a photograph someone had no right to use, private information about a living person, a page created by someone with no standing to create it, or something meant to harm.

This page is how you tell us. It applies to anyone: the page owner, a family member, a stranger, or an authority.

Under Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act) we are a hosting service. As a micro-enterprise we are exempt from several of the Regulation's heavier platform obligations; the mechanism described below applies to us regardless, and we would want it in place either way.

How to report something

Write to forever@stellamemoria.com, or use the report form linked at the bottom of every memorial page.

Please include:

  • the address of the page or, if it is one contribution, enough to identify it — the name it was signed with and roughly when it appeared;
  • what is wrong with it, in your own words, and why you believe it is unlawful or against our Terms of Service;
  • who you are — a name and an email address we can reply to. You may report anonymously, but then we cannot tell you what we decided. If the report concerns an alleged criminal offence against a person, a contactable name helps us act faster.

You do not need legal wording. A clear sentence about what you are looking at and why it should not be there is enough.

If you are reporting content about yourself — a photograph of you, something written about you — say so. That report is treated as the more urgent kind.

What happens next

  1. We confirm receipt by email, without undue delay, to the address you wrote from.
  2. A person reviews it. Not an automated system. We look at the page, at the context, and at anything the page owner tells us.
  3. We decide. We may leave the content as it is, ask the page owner to change it, remove the content, take the page offline, or in serious cases close the account.
  4. We tell you what we decided and why — you, and the page owner if their content was affected. That is the statement of reasons the Regulation requires, and it names the ground we relied on: the law, or a specific rule in our Terms.

Where content is plainly unlawful and someone is being harmed, we act first and explain immediately afterwards.

We aim to answer within seven days. Where a decision needs the page owner's account of events, it takes longer, and we say so rather than going quiet.

If you disagree with our decision

Reply to the same email. A reply to a decision is read as an appeal, and it is reviewed by a person, not by whoever handled it the first time where that is possible in a company this size.

If that does not resolve it, the Regulation leaves you free to go to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified in your member state, or to a court. Nothing here takes that away.

Contact point

forever@stellamemoria.com is our single point of contact:

  • for you, as a user of the service (Article 12);
  • for member state authorities, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services (Article 11);
  • for orders to act against illegal content, and for orders to provide information, from national judicial or administrative authorities (Articles 9 and 10).

We are established in the European Union, in Romania, so we do not appoint a legal representative under Article 13. Our company details are on the Legal notice page.

Language of communication: English. You may also write to us in the language of the page you are reporting, and we will reply in that language.

Please do not use this for a family disagreement

If two relatives disagree about how a page describes someone, that is not usually a report — it is a conversation, and we would rather it happened between you. Write to us anyway if it cannot: we will contact whoever created the page and, if the dispute is genuine, we may take the page offline while it is resolved. But we do not decide who was closest to the person who died.
